ChipTorque support the Turbo Common Rail Diesel Toyota Hilux 3.0L D4D 1KD-FTV using the XEDE Processor. The XEDE Processor is able to lift the boost pressure from 16psi to 18psi (both max figures) and to alter the diesel fuelling. By altering the boost pressure this delivers near standard EGT's (Exhaust Gas Temperatures). ChipTorque’s R&D department discovered that while changes in injection timing were trialled, the increase in engine noise, harshness and a lack of decent torque improvement meant there was little point in pursuing this approach. However, well thought-out increases in fuelling and the small boost increase were very successful. ChipTorque supply these features within the base map provided with the purchase of an XEDE Processor kit.
We believe this is the first aftermarket diesel modification in Australia to electronically increase turbo boost pressure on a variable vane turbo. Development of the XEDE Processor has been paired with aftermarket exhaust, intake and snorkel upgrades. Fitment of the XEDE Processor on a 2005 Model has achieved an amazing 18 per cent gain in power extending right across the rev range with peak power going from 99kW to 118kW at the wheels.
