ChipTorque’s R&D team have undertaken substantial testing on this model of this Delco ECU.  The GM engineers have incorporated extensive adaptive ignition and fuel learning into your vehicle’s ECU.  We have found that, for vehicles with exhaust modifications and cold air induction systems only, the adaptive learning system will provide appropriate ignition and fuel changes to suit these modifications.  Therefore, no chip is necessary until roller rockers, cam changes or a supercharger is fitted.

If required ChipTorque can customise your program to recalibrate your vehicle’s transmission gear shift points, cooling fan control, rev limiters and speed limiters to suit specific requirements.

An ideal upgrade path for your Ecotec engine is to install high ratio Roller Rockers.  This gives a similar increase in airflow to that provided by fitting a small camshaft but is much easier to install.  ChipTorque supplies a HP3 Upgrade Kit using Yella Terra Roller Rockers and a Performance Chip as a first stage upgrade. This provides a good torque and power gains with only slight changes in idle quality.

ChipTorque can also customise your vehicle’s program for different camshaft, head porting and/or fuel injector combinations.

Hot Tip: The most common failure ChipTorque sees in Ecotec engined vehicle’s is a faulty / degrading Air Flow Meter causing substantially leaner fuel mixtures than commanded and often problems with engine detonation.  If you are unsure, contact ChipTorque for test procedures.  Do not use modified (ported / billet) Air Flow Meters (AFM) with the Ecotec engine without a custom programmed performance chip.  ChipTorque’s R&D team has seen many Ecotec engines running dangerously lean and displaying extreme engine detonation (even with knock sensors) when fitted with modified AFM’s

Programming time varies depending on vehicles modification
ie. different camshafts, injectors, compression changes, gearbox changes, cubic capacity changes.

**
High horsepower vehicles (>300kw atw) incur higher hourly rates.
